Alexander Graham Bell

Our literary study of Homer Price has lead us to Alexander Graham Bell.  He was a great inventor and a very special person.  He worked countless hours with deaf people, and he invented  a language for them called Visible Speech. He married Mabel Hubbard.  She was deaf and a former student of his.

Alexander Graham Bell is most famous for inventing the telephone but he considered the telephone to be an intrusion on his "Real work as a scientist" and did not even have one in his study.

Bell was awarded a patent for the telephone in 1876.  Here is a notebook Bell jotted down his ideas regarding the telephone.
