Brief study of cells and DNA.

For the rest of this school year, we will be studying human anatomy.  We are using Apologia Human Anatomy as our spine (ha ha) for the course.  This course includes simple experiments that use everyday household items.

We will also be using this Usborne Human Body book.  There are great internet connections included in this book.
This is a picture about cells from the Usborne book.
This is from the Apologia course notebook.  We used the provided ideas and materials a little differently than described in the notebook.   This is a cell wheel that has information about the parts of a cell.
We also learned about DNA.  We tried to make an edible model from this link but there were too many steps for us to follow so WE DID IT OUR WAY!  That could be why it did not work out too well.  Oh well, live and learn.  It still tasted good.
This is how it was supposed to look.

The supplies.

Very organized and ready to make.

This was a little hard because the toothpicks kept poking our fingers.
Trying to twist it like in the picture of the book above.
The end result.
We are off to a good start so far.  Some of these topics I find hard to understand myself so we will go a little more in depth in the future.

A few great links.
