We like the recipe from the Duggar family.
**Warning: This is not for anyone on a diet!
The recipe is from this book. |
All of the goodies ready to go in the cake. The ingredients are ice cream sandwiches, Cool Whip, Butterfingers, Smucker's caramel sauce, and Hershey's chocolate syrup |
Start by crushing Butterfinger bars. You can crush them in a baggie but I used this chop wizard. |
Here they are all crushed up. |
We were taking this to go so we made the cake in a disposable aluminum pan. You have to line the bottom of the pan with ice cream sandwiches |
After the ice cream sandwiches are in place, you spread Cool Whip over all of the sandwiches. You will need to let it thaw a little so you can spread it. |
Now you sprinkle the Cool Whip with the crushed Butterfingers, Smucker's caramel sauce, and Hershey's chocolate syrup. |
Now you need to cover all of that with more ice cream sandwiches and again top it off with Cool Whip. (I know but wait!) |
Repeat what you did with the Butterfingers, caramel sauce, and Hershey's syrup. Cover and freeze. |
This is how it looks when you cut into it. |
Oh yum! My J wants an ice cream cake for his birthday.. he has no recollection of one from DQ, and I'm trying to figure out how to make that middle layer.
ReplyDeleteKendra, this cake is so good but probably too much sugar for you guys. I do not know how to make the middle layer but I found this recipe if you want to try it out.

Hi Tracey! Oh this looks delicious. I've never attempted to make one myself...instead I've splurged and ordered them.
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking the time to email me, too! That was really nice encouragement since I really do NOT like having my picture taken.
I have you on my FIAR reader and look forward to reading about your rows :)
Blessings, Tamara
Tamara, you are welcome and this cake is super easy to make.
