***Warning-if you have not read the book or seen the movie, there could be a few spoilers.
I am a little surprised by some of the negative reviews I have read for this movie. We watched the movie a day before the official debut, and we really liked it. I am classified as a "nonreader" and this does make a difference to some of the "readers" but whether you have read the book or not, it was an entertaining movie (by my standers of entertaining).

Here is the gist:
Lionsgate introduces us to another New York Times' best selling book, Divergent by Veronica Roth. Basically, it is about a teenage girl (Tris) surviving a post-apocalyptic world, living in futuristic Chicago where society is divided based on personality types.
It is all about identity, finding out where you belong and how you fit in. On her journey, she finds a love interest (Tobias/Four) and learns to embody her individuality. She uncovers a sinister plan, and tries to stop it.
The casting of Divergent was spot on. A blend of newbies and seasoned actors including Shailene Woodley (Tris), Theo James (Tobias/Four-Dauntless), Ashley Judd-Tris' mother (love her!), and Kate Winslet (Erudite).
See the full cast here at IMDb.
I think the movie is very entertaining and has elements that all can enjoy, love, family, loyalty, individuality, and fighting.
And speaking of fighting, now I will dish on the fight that broke out while we were there. About the middle of the film, a woman (50+) turned around and screamed at the man (50+) to shut the hell up. Apparently, he had been quite chatty during the movie either on his phone or with his 2 teenage daughters who were sitting on each side of him. The woman then proceeded to scream how he had been talking the entire time, and she has had enough of it. I don't blame her for that but I think she could have handled the situation a little better than she did.
So the man proceeded to scream F*** you directly in her face and spit flew out of his mouth and landed on her face.
She screamed for him to stop spitting at her or she would call the police so what do you think he did? Right, he spit right in her face again. A lady sitting a few seats over told them both that there are young children in the movie and they should not be cussing, and they both let her have it too. Telling her to shut up.
They all started pushing each other and the lady was on the phone calling the police when the man and his daughters tried to walk out of the theater so she stood in front of him blocking his way out so he pushed her, she grabbed him, his daughter was yelling get your hands off my father, and then the theater manager came in and ushered them all out.
Everyone in the theater was amazed at what had transpired. When the movie was over and everyone was leaving, it was not the movie that had everyone talking but the incident that transpired in the movie. There were 2 police cars and maybe 3 policemen taking statements and writing down details of this, whatever it was that happened. I have never seen anything like that before in the movie theater and I hope I do not in the future. It is scary to realize that if you make the wrong person angry, they will go off on you.
So go to see Divergent, it is worth it but remember to be quiet!!!!!!!
