On C15's list of extras for this year is volunteering at the Humane Society every weekend, usually on Sundays. Mostly it is just about socializing with the animals but it is very important for both her and the animals, especially the kittens. I am relieved each time we go into the Humane Society and do not actually come out with a kitten or two. She jokingly asked earlier what would I do if I found a kitten in her room. I hope there is not one in there. She is also participating in a rock band. She has been a part of this same band for a few years now. The band plays various different places and events locally. She takes a kickboxing class every Monday. This is another activity that she has been participating in for a few years now. She is working on writing a book, and she spends a good deal of time researching astronomy. For the last two years, she has been the main photographer at many different events for our homeschool group. She also babysits and helps a little neighbor with homework (tutoring). She has numerous dog sitting jobs which on occasion have included other types of animals as well. Wow, that looks like a lot of when it is listed out like that. All of these activities and extras are great for broadening horizons, interacting with other people, new experiences, and learning new skills.
