It's just a bunch of hocus pocus or is it..............

Its October and you know what that means.  I am super happy and stoked about Halloween..........
I absolutely love Halloween as I have previously stated a thousand times.

Ghost story time.  A16 was telling me about this scary road she was watching videos of on YouTube which caught my attention immediately so I did a little digging around to learn more about this mysterious road plagued by rumor.

Clinton Road in New Jersey is said to the "scariest road in America" but not because Hillary lives there (Ouch), she doesn't, it is because a lot of spooky things are associated with this eerie ten miles of road, spooky things such as red-eyed creatures, hell hounds, menacing pickup trucks, hungry cannibals, a ghost boy on the bridge, satanic rituals, Ku Klux Klan gatherings, Deadman's Curve, and a Druid temple for the devil worshiper to gather around.  This road sounds like a supernatural lovers dream, if the stories are indeed true.

So lets talk about the Druid temple first.  Folkore has it that Druid practitioners would gather here and perform some pretty horrible acts including human sacrifice but later this tale was debunked.  This building was actually declared to be an iron smelter left over from the Revolutionary War and War of 1812 and is, in fact, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  Boo!  Strike 1!

The ghost boy on the bridge at Deadman's curve.  There are two stories here; one of a ghost boy and one of a bridge.  The ghost boy story goes something like this.

A little boy was walking on Clinton Road and while walking on the bridge, dropped his quarter.  The boy reached down to pick up his quarter and was hit and killed by a car.

Legend has it if you get out of your car and stand on the bridge, you can see a quarter but don't go to pick it up because allegedly said ghost boy will push you into the lake below.

Some people say they have thrown coins into the lake only to have them thrown back at them by the ghost boy.  Not sure if I believe this one but I am not going there to find out.

The (ghost boy's bridge) at dead man's curve is made of sturdy stone and a waterfall flows beneath it which sounds lovely but it is not.  This deadly curve has claimed the lives of at least 11 people.

One of the most horrific accidents on Deadman's curve happened in 2016 which lead the council of Chester County to finally demand action to prevent further accidents.

The unfortunate soul involved in this accident was driving a logging truck.  This was a tragic death as you can tell by the picture
of the accident site.

Next up, the phantom ghost truck, a black pickup truck to be exact.  Apparently, this menacing ghost truck appears out of no where.  The truck's lights will flash, the truck quickly gets behind you trying to push you off the road, and then disappears as mysteriously as it appeared.  People claim to have encountered this truck.  This tale has been told for over 30 years so I will just take their word for it.

Another haunted spot along Clinton Road is the Cross Castle.  Today only the foundation remains of this eerie, three-story castle.  Richard Cross built the house in 1905 for his wife and children.  After the castle was destroyed by fire, supposedly what remained behind made for a great site for satanic worshipers to conjure.

Finally, sightings of bizarre creatures have been reported.  At one point in time, Clinton Road was home to an exotic animal zoo.  When the zoo shut down, rumor has it that some of the animals were released in to the woods instead of relocated to other zoos.  These animals bred with local wild animals resulting in strange species of animals.  These reports stated that animals in various shapes and sizes have been seen including that of the New Jersey Devil.  The only common factors in the animal sightings are that they are all white in appearance and had red eyes.  Some people actually believe these creatures are cannibalistic albinos who live in the woods and block the bridge so they can eat you.  HA!  I can't even!

So as you can see, Clinton Road may actually be the highway to hell but I am going to bet the majority of these stories are purely made up and have been passed around for years which makes for awesome retellings but not exactly believable to me.  I would have to see it to believe it but I have no immediate or delayed plans on visiting Clinton Road.
