Homeschool candy making class

Today was a blast!! Teenagers and chocolate?? This sounds like a recipe for disaster but it was super fun!  The kids spent 2 hours melting, mixing, pouring, creating, and eating chocolate a portion of which they were wearing on their clothes.

The work area had all the supplies.  Long tea spoons, candy molds,  the melted chocolate, and a variety of items for covering with chocolate.

Obviously pretzels but I like to explain anyway.  Just dip the end and let it dry.
Caramel covered chocolate.  Form the caramel into balls then fill the mold half full of chocolate, freeze for 2 minutes, add 1 caramel ball to each chocolate-filled mold then freeze another 2 minutes, and then more chocolate to cover the caramel then freeze an additional 2-5 minutes.
Hearts.
Flowers.
Dog bones.
I like chocolate but by the time this was over, blah!!!!  I felt a cavity coming on, and I felt a little pre-diabetic.  The nice part was seeing all the kids interacting and having fun.  This was a middle school-aged function and you never know with teenagers but this is a fine group of kids, well-mannered, well-behaved, and respectful to adults.  We had a great time!
