Next stop, France!

We finally made it out of the United Kingdom, and we are now in France.  This is also a country with a deep, rich history.

*Capital is Paris.

*France is the most visited place on earth.

*Population estimated to be 65 million.

*The tiny island of Corsica belongs to France. This is where      Napoleon was from.

*Eiffel Tower is in Paris.  Gustave Eiffel built the Eiffel Tower, and he also designed the Statue of Liberty.
*The famous Louvre is also in Paris.

*The River Seine is a very important waterway in Northern France.

Monet
A few famous French folks:  Monet, Degas, Renoir, Marie Antoinette, John James Audubon, Coco Chanel, Jacques Cousteau, Marie Tussaud, and Jules Verne just to name a few.
Degas

French dine on Escargots and Foie Gras, snails and goose liver pate, no thanks!

I am still trying to tie in spooky aspects of each country.  I find this so interesting.
The Beast of Gevaudan

In France between 1764 and 1770 there were several attacks which were reportedly by a man-eating wolf-type animal.  This animal roamed the province of Gevaudan.  The eye-witnesses recall this beast with long, sharp teeth and a very long tail.  It was reported these beasts look like wolves but as large as  cows with a large dog-like head.  The claws on their feet were as sharp as a razor.  It was also reported that these beast were red in color with a black streak down their backs, and they had a nasty odor about them.  The victims were killed by having their throats torn out.  The French pulled together all the resources they could to hunt these beasts.  It has been reported that these beast took the lives of  over 113, with 49 injured, and 98 of the victims were partially eaten by the beasts.

For now, we will say Adieu to France!
