Dryocampa rubicunda

This morning we saw a Rosy Maple Moth on our porch.  This is such a pretty insect despite my lack of photography ability.  They have pink legs and antennae, their bodies are yellow, and their wings are pink and yellow.  Their name Rosy Maple comes from the fact that they like to eat Maple leaves and apparently in adulthood, they do not eat.  They are nocturnal and that could explain why when we let this little one go, he wanted to stay in the bug box.  We finally relocated him to the Maple tree out front.  Such a nice thing to see first thing in the morning.
