Apologia Physical Science Mod 10.

Newton's Law (brief).

First you need to know a little bit about Isaac Newton.  He was/is one of the most influential scientists ever in the history of science!  He was a master in mathematics, alchemy, theology, astronomy, and philosophy.

He was born in England on January 4, 1643 and died on March 31, 1737 at the age of 85.

You also need to understand the concept of gravity.  Objects with mass that attract each other-i.e. gravity.  It is gravity that keeps Earth and the other planets in orbit around the sun.  Gravity also keeps the moon in orbit around Earth.

Newton realized that motion worked in three ways.  These three ways are called the law of inertia, the law of acceleration (F=ma), and the law of interaction.  These laws are the universal laws known as Newton's Law.  Newton was only 23 years old when he discovered this.

Here is a brief summary.

*The first law the law of inertia which basically states objects will stay in motion until impacted by an outside force.
*The second law, the law of acceleration means the greater the mass of an object, the greater the force will have to be to make it accelerate.
*The third law is the law of interaction.  This means that for every action, there is an equal but opposite action.

Next up, the prism another great discovery/invention of  Sir Isaac Newton's.
