The Boldu Forest, just outside of Romania, is where you can find an enchanting, mysterious pond known as the Witches Pond. This tiny, algae-layered body of water has quite a reputation with Romanians; tales of baffling phenomena, supernatural occurrences, numerous reports of wandering apparitions surrounding the forest, and a bunch of hocus pocus.
It is said that pregnant women who do not want to carry their baby to full-term can go to the Witches' Pond which would cause spontaneous miscarriage.
Native animals of the Boldu Forest never drink from the Witches Pond.
It is unclear where the source of the pond's water comes from and apparently the pond never dries up. There have also been reports of random, isolated rain storms or snow directly over the pond and no where else in the forest.
One of the coolest facts surrounding the Witches Pond (to me) is it is believed that Vlad the Impaler was killed at the Witches Pond. Vlad's death is still mysterious but it is believed he was beheaded in 1476 and haunts the pond.
