Sewing project

As some of you may know, C11 is taking a sewing class.  The first assignment was to make a pin cushion tomato which she did very well.  Her next assignment was to take preformed pillows and make them decorative by sewing on a cover and adding piping to the edges or another form of decoration.  She chose a pink fabric so that her pillows would match her new curtains that her grandmother made.
So far, so good!
This is her cover for the first pillow.  She just needs to add piping now.

Honestly, I was a little lost when the sewing teacher was explaining how to add the piping.  She was cutting diagonal strips and measure the fabrics at different angles.  At first, I did not see how it would work but after seeing the process in action, it is a relatively easy thing to do.  Well, C11 did not find it all that confusing in the first place but I did.

The second pillow is larger than the other one.  She decided to add green ribbon to this pillow, again matching the curtains.

She had to sew the ribbon on by hand and then she added piping around the edges.

Lookin' good!
Both finished pillows.
The larger pillow with the previously mentioned curtains.  She picked the fabric and ribbon without having the curtain pattern with her.  They matched up well.

Next up for sewing class will be to make an American Girl Doll sleeping bag.
