Around the World in 80 Days chapters 5-10

Topics of study from chapters 5-10.

Chapters 5 & 6
~map lesson:  label Italy and the city of Turin, Egypt, Suez Canal, Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Yemen
~Suez Canal
~canals as a way of transportation and trade
~Cape of Good Hope

Chapters 7 & 8
~time zones

Chapters 9 & 10
~Strait of Bab-el-mandeb
~Egyptian history and culture
~Indian history and culture

We also worked on vocabulary words for each chapter and discussion questions from Trail Guides to World Geography.
We are still tracking Mr. Phileas Fogg and Passepartout's journey with the map below from Wikipedia.
