Curriculum for 2011/2012 revealed

It is that time of year again.  Time to start a new school year.  This year, I have a 5th grader and a 7th grader.  Time is really flying.  I recently attending the big Southeast Homeschool Expo where I picked out some goodies for the year.  Here they are.

This is new for me this year.  It came highly recommended by a friend of mine.  She loves it so I thought I would give it a try.  So far, so good.  It is a very pretty planner with lots of inspirational pages.  Lets see how well-planned my days will be after using it.

This is not new.  We have used it in the past to learn about different countries but this year will are going to work on the literary study Around the World In 80 Days which is the last lesson in this book.

This is new, and so far I love it.  We love art anyway but this books helps you tie art to geography.  I have a feeling we will be using this a lot.

Another new item for us this year.  This is also a highly recommended Latin program.  It includes a CD, DVD, teacher guide, student book, and flashcards.

My beloved Beyond Five in a Row volume 3 manual.  From this, we will work on The Saturdays and Marie Curie and the Discovery of Radium.

This is a digital unit for Hitty by Rachel Field.  This is Above and Beyond Five in a Row.

We will be learning more about Lewis and Clark so I picked up a few go alongs to enhance the study.

We will also devote about 4 weeks to Georgia.

We will be using Cantering the Country (above)  and Trail Guides to  U.S.  Geography (below) for our Georgia study.

We will be working on Medieval Times this year also so I picked up a few games and craft books.

My kids love the history of the Revolutionary War so I picked up this for craft ideas.

Life of Fred.  This is new this year.  It is math written in story format.  It looks interesting.

Of course, Singapore math is our main math curriculum so I picked up the new books for this year.
Here are our literary books in the order we will work on them.

As you can see, we have a lot of planned for this year.  I am sure we can get through all of the planned things and more.  My kids both take enrichment classes one day a week as well.  They are signed up for kickboxing, art, computer programming, digital photography, and science.  They both also take piano and ice skating lessons.  Wish us luck!
