R.I.P. Dear Coconut

Remembering Coconut.
Coconut joined the fam in 2010 as
part of a tide pool study.
I would say he had a pretty good run here with us.
Two days ago, I pronounced him dead but I realized
that he in fact was not dead
but just missing his big claw.  Glad he did not get buried alive.
We fixed his house back up
only to realize that he was in fact this time
really dead.  Other clues were the extra
body parts scattered about the aquarium.  The smell was the second clue.

His good buddy, Shadow is going to miss playing cat versus hermit crab.
Coconut was the last hermit crab species remaining in our house, King Coconut outlasted all the others before him.  Nothing personal but I think Coconut will be the last hermit crab to live with us during the rest of my lifetime.  So rest in peace King Coconut.
Other post about our hermits.
A new home for hermit crabs.
Naked hermit crab. (Not a television show)
A plethora of pets.
Cat versus hermit crab-featuring Shadow.
