Your versus You're

These two words are words I find used wrong often, and I am not sure why.  They are clearly used differently and mean two different things.

Your-using your means that something belongs to you.

You're-you're is a made up of you and are and it means you are.

As you can see, these two words are totally different.

You would never say your welcome.  Does this indicate that the welcome belongs to your?  You could use this version of the word like this:  I am bringing your child support payments to you now.

Following this idea, you would not say you always manage to disappoint everyone with you're self-centered way of thinking. You would use your for that.  You could, however, say you're so self-centered.  As in YOU ARE SO SELF-CENTERED.

A few more examples of the correct uses of the above two words:

YOUR:
~Your children deserve better!
~You destroyed your family with your selfish ways.
~You need to get your life together.

YOU'RE:
~You're a loser!
~You're a liar!
~You're a cheater!

YOUR AND YOU'RE:
~You're going to have to suffer the consequences of your actions.

I think these are fairly simple words to use correctly.  If you're not sure which word to use just try it out in the sentence that you're working on.  When you read or say the sentence see if (you are) sounds correct, if not, you're using the wrong word.

Vocabulary lesson for the day.

mythomania (Pseudologia fantastica)
myth-o-ma-ni-a Greek-mythos + Latin-mania
This is a noun which is characterized by the act of habitually or compulsively lying to an abnormal and unnecessary degree.  Lies about anything and everything and the person lying actually believes what they say to be the truth. They lie for no reason.  And the lies are of a fantastical nature.  The liar wants to dazzle with their stories.  The liar tells his story in a way that will embellish himself.  This master of manipulation can make himself look like a hero or a victim depending on the results he desires to gain with his lies.  This type of liar is diabolically evil.  They have no remorse for what they do as they believe what they say.  I think this would be exhausting!  Telling the truth is just easier!  Nothing to remember if it is true, it is true!
Thanks for horsing around with me. You really never know what you will get when you read my blog so thanks for stopping by.
