Shoutout to C for being the at the top of her class in OT School the first freaking semester and bringing home straight A's! I never had any doubt she would do anything less. So proud of my punk, she just keeps on being the best and the most selfless person I know!

And this just happened...
I mean it is certainly not a shock to me that my awesome daughter would be accepted from a group of 350 applicants, in which only 40 applicants would be selected to the occupational therapy program at Augusta University. She just went for the interview on Monday, and they already contacted her back. That is a big freaking deal for sure and after I get done crying, I will be back to post more. I am beyond proud and for the first time in my life, speechless, which never happens.

Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a Minor in Spanish...
So proud of my first homeschooled daughter for graduating college today Magna Cum Laude! BAM!! She worked her butt off over the last 4 years while volunteering, doing research with professors, hosting virtual conferences on mental health issues, spending so many Tuesday nights helping with a Church Program for kids with Down Syndrome, and then when COVID hit, all the gears shifted but that did not stop her. She found virtual programs to interact with troubled kids and even designed a computer game for them to play together as a group.
I try not to be too sappy when I blog about my kiddos but sometimes it just cannot be helped. I am beyond proud of the person she has become. Seeing my girl walk across that stage to receive her diploma took my breath away! TEARS OF JOY! It was also nice to see how proud her grandparents and sister were of her as well.
It was actually just awesome seeing all these hard-working students achieve their goals, especially in light of the COVID pandemic.
Congrats to them all and to my nephew, Ryan, who also just graduated last week.

Facts don't care about your feelings....
This is going to be very interesting, very interesting indeed! My political kids snagged a few tickets to this event.
I am kind of scared and definitely nervous because he always draws a diverse crowd that can get completely out of control but I think they can handle it.
It is nice to see young people taking an interest in politics.

Shout out....
to my punk, C20, for going to college full-time, shadowing at clinics for credit, and volunteering all her spare time to local churches and community-based activities working with handicapped children and adults including getting asked to be the leader for one group with Down Syndrome.
Could not be more proud of her for sacrificing her time and energy for the betterment of others.

Its official........
I have raised two incredible humans on my own. Life is great, just as it should be. Way to go A18 getting accepted to all the schools she applied to and to C19 for being a straight A college student for the last two years. Its just incredible! This joy is what all parents should feel when they actually participate in raising kids. Nothing compares to it really.

So proud of my kid........
She was only going to volunteer two days a week but after day one, she already fell in love with her little patient and wants to see her again tomorrow. Makes a parent's heart so happy to know they are raising an amazing future adult for the world. So proud!

Why not college classes during the summer........
So proud of C18.She finished her first year of college with straight A's and made it on the President's list.
Yep, my little homeschooler.
We already had a fairly busy summer planned with the acting gigs, concerts, birthday parties, hopefully a quick trip out of town at the end of July, as well as babysitting and pet sitting for half the people living in our complex. They are lining up jobs left and right.
But even with all of that, C18 has decided to take classes during the summer. She is a college rockstar!
I know summer classes are not for everyone. Some people are not cut out for college at all and fail miserably while they are in college, drop courses, fail courses, change majors, and/or relocate as anexcuse to start over at another college but luckily C18 is not like that.
There are so many benefits of summer school and if you are taking online classes, the benefits are even greater!
By just taking two courses over the summer, C18 can graduate a semester early. There are usually fewer students. The classes are shorter in term. There are no gaps in learning/routine which keeps your brain going. In general you will have more access to professors since the classes are smaller and you can get some of the gen ed classes out of the way. Summer school is also great for anyone who needs to catch up. I cannot find one single reason not to take summer classes, especially online, even with a busy schedule like C18 already has in place.
Here are a few links that I found about college during the summer.
